2026 American Gold Eagle Design
The American Eagle Program replicated the $20 Double Eagle Gold Coins issued from 1907 to 1933, created by the famous sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, to use on Gold Eagles.
The obverse features Lady Liberty at the center, confidently striding forward with a torch of enlightenment in her right hand and an olive branch of peace in her left. She represents the Founding Fathers’ ideals of freedom, unity, and progress.
Behind her, the Capitol Building is set against the rays of a rising sun, while the mintage year appears on the right and “LIBERTY” arches along the upper rim. The design is framed by a circle of six-pointed stars.
The reverse, designed by Jennie Norris to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the American Eagle Program, showcases the majestic head of a bald eagle with a commanding gaze, symbolizing America’s strength, resolve, and forward-looking spirit.
Above the eagle’s head are the mottos “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “IN GOD WE TRUST”. Encircling the outer rim are the engravings “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “25 DOLLARS 1/2 OZ. FINE GOLD.”
